DAY 1
Objectives: Cluj-Napoca – Târgu Lăpuș – Gutâi Pass – Poienile Izei
Saturday morning, first thing in the morning, we will start from Cluj-Napoca. Then, we are heading north-east towards the historical Maramureș. Once we arrive in Dej, we will continue our journey to Târgu Lăpuș and further to the wooden Church of Plopiș, a UNESCO monument. After this short cultural break, we will get ready for the most beautiful part of our route from the first day, namely the DN 18 road that connects Baia Sprie and Sighetul Marmației. Gutâi Pass is 978 meters above sea level. For us, this is one of our favourite routes. The more than 200 curves and the good quality of the asphalt recommend this road as one of the most beautiful in Romania. We will have a lunch break at an authentic restaurant, one of the most attractive gastronomic locations in the area, Alex Trout Farm in Mara village.
After the lunch break, we will continue on the beautiful roads of Maramureș. In the evening we will arrive in Poienile Izei, at our accommodation, one of the most representative traditional houses in the area.

DAY 2
Objectives: Poienile Izei – Borșa – Transrarău – Vatra Dornei – Piatra Fântânele – Colibița Lake – Bistrița – Cluj-Napoca.
After a typical breakfast in Maramureș, we will leave for Borșa, enjoying Maramureș Mountains National Park on the left and Pietrosul Rodnei on the right. There follows a series of serpentines perfect for motorcyclists in Prislop Pass. Further on, we will follow the road to Carlibaba, preserving the submontane landscapes throughout the route. On the same note, we will enter the beautiful region of Bukovina, where we will admire one of the most beautiful alpine roads in the north of the country, Transrarăul.
After the lunch break, Vatra Dornei and the wide turns towards Tihuta Pass will come next. Colibita Lake is another point of attraction in the Maramureș-Bukovina weekend tour. Bistrița will be the last city where we will stop for a short break before reaching Cluj-Napoca, our final destination.
